11qt. Basket of 3"-4" cucumbers
Brine 2qt of pickling salt to 1 gallon of hot water
A good tbs of alum
Syrup
10 cups white sugar
10 cups of vinegar
1/4 cup of mixed whole spice(put in a cloth bag)

Wash cucumbers well and slice length ways.
Brine
2qt of pickling salt to 1 gallon of hot water, cover cucs for 1 day,drain ,rinse well, put good tbs of alum into boiling water for another day,drain
Add hot syrup for 4 days. Syrup 10 cups white sugar, 10 cups of vinegar and a 1/4 cup of mixed whole spice(put in a cloth bag) on 5 th day reheat syrup and bottle cucs, let seal, all done.
