2 pounds round steak
2 Tbsp fat
2 cups boiling water
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 clove garlic
1 medium onioin, sliced
1 bay leaf
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp paprika
1 Tbsp salt
½ tsp pepper
Dash allspice or cloves
6 carrots
4 or 5 potatoes

Directions:
Directions:
Thoroughly brown the meat on all sides in hot fat, turning often. Add boiling water, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, sliced onion, bay leaf and seasonings. Cover and simmer (don't boil) for 1½ hours, stirring occasionally to keep from sticking. Remove bay leaf and garlic clove. Add carrots and potatoes. Cover and cook 30 minutes more or until vegetables are done.
