3 cups of flour
2 tbsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
2/3 cups shortening (butter-flavored Crisco works best)
1-1/2 cups milk
Melted butter

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together first 4 ingredients. Cut in shortening (a fork works best for this) and add milk. Mix well. Turn onto floured surface and knead well. Roll and cut into desired shapes. Brush tops of biscuits with melted butter. Place on baking sheet and bake at 450º F for 12 to 15 minutes.

One of my favorite biscuit recipes from my great-grandmother. She could throw these biscuits together in under 10 minutes. The recipe is very simple but provides great flavorful and fluffy biscuits. Serve with honey or molasses and lots of butter.
