2 cups sugar
1½ cups shortening, softened
½ cup light molasses(⅓ if dark)
2 eggs
4 cups flour
2 tsp. cloves
2 tsp. cinnamon
4 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt


Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 375º. In large bowl, cream together sugar, shortening, molasses and eggs. Add rest of ingredients and mix well. Drop by teaspoonfuls on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 minutes. Cool on baking rack. Wrap or bag as desired to keep soft. Makes 3 dozen cookies.
