1-2 lbs. hamburger
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 c. chopped onions
some cabbage sliced finely
1 (29 oz.) can diced petite tomatoes
4 c. water
3 medium sized potatoes, peeled and cubed
3 large carrots, peeled and sliced
2 or more celery stalks, sliced
1 tsp. salt (or more to taste)
1 bay leaf
1 cube beef bouillon
1-2 c. grated cheese

1. In 5 quart pot, brown the hamburger with garlic and onion.
2. Add the rest of the ingredients (except the cheese). Cover and simmer about 1 hour until tender.
3. Dish up into bowls and sprinkle cheese on top if desired.

This is my mom's recipe. I have memories of her making this for dinner when I was young. When my family and I go visit her in Utah, she will have a pot of this on the stove for when we arrive. With this soup, you could probably add whatever you wanted to it to tailor it to your liking. :)
