3 Tbsp. yeast
4 c. warm water
4 tbsp. sugar

1 tbsp. salt
3 tbsp. oil
approx. 10 c. flour

Directions:
Directions:
1. Mix together the first 3 ingredients and let stand 5 min.
2. Add the last ingredients, adding the flour 1 cup at a time until the dough is no longer sticky.
3. Mix and let stand 30 min.
4. After they have risen, roll out the dough (on a well floured surface) to about ¼ - ½ in. thick.
5. Using a pizza cutter, cut the dough into scone sized squares.
6. Separate each one (about 55) making sure each side is sprinkled with flour so they don't stick together.
7. Let them rise. Then fry in hot oil.
 

Buttermilk Syrup


Ingredients:

1 c. sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. white karo
1/2 tsp. baking soda (helps if it's new)
1 tsp. vanilla


Directions:

1. Mix all ingredients (except vanilla) in saucepan.
2. Bring to boil and boil for 5 min.
3. Cook until it turns a caramel color.
4. Remove from heat and add vanilla.
5. This syrup is great on scones, waffles, pancakes, or French toast.
