1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup flour
6 OXO beef cubes
4 cups boiling water
2 cups beef diced
4 onions, sliced
2 large carrots, diced
3 potatoes, diced
½ cup green beans
½ cup frozen peas
salt/pepper to taste
dash of nutmeg

Dumplings

1 cup flour
2 tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
2 tbsp. shortening
2/3 cup milk

Directions:
Directions:
Heat butter in large saucepan stir in flour.
Gradually stir in OXO beef cubes dissolved in boiling water. Stir until thickened.
Add meat and all vegetables except peas; bring to a boil. Reduce heat cover and simmer gently ½ hour.
Stir in peas ( season to taste before adding dumplings).
15 minutes before serving make dumplings; drop by spoonful on top of stew.
Cover tightly and continue cooking for 15 minutes.
Serve immediately

Dumplings
Combine flour, baking powder and salt; stir well to blend.
Cut in shortening coarsely. Make a well in centre, pour in milk all at once and mix lightly with fork just until dry ingredients are moistened.
Drop from oiled spoon onto stew cook as directed.
