¾ cup shortening, melt and cool
1 cup sugar
¼ cup molasses
1 egg
2 cups flour
2 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. cloves
½ tsp. ginger
½ tsp. salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, molasses, and egg. Beat well. Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, cloves, ginger, and salt to mixture. Form into 1 inch balls, roll in granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350º for 8 to 10 minutes.
