2 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp salt
3 tsp baking powder
½ cup sugar
½ cup shortening
1 egg
½ cup milk (or more to make a soft dough)
¾ cup raisins or currents (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Rinse and drain fruit.
Mix flour, salt, baking powder, sugar and blend in shortening until looks like crumbs add fruit.
Beat egg lightly and add enough milk to make ¾ cups, stir into dry mixture.
Turn out on floured board or countertop and knead lightly.
Divide dough into 3rds.
Roll each into a circle and cut into wedges or cut with a small cutter or juice glass.
Place on greased cookie sheet, brush tops with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
Bake at 425 about 15 minutes or until golden brown.
