Ingredients:
Ingredients:
1 qt. heavy whipping cream
1 or more cloves garlic
lots salt and pepper
10-12 russet potatoes- peeled, sliced thin
1 lb gruyere cheese- grated

Directions:
Directions:
In a large bowl pour heavy whipping cream, add garlic, salt and pepper to taste. (the cream mixture needs to taste salty) With the cream mixture coat all the potato slices. Layer half the potato slices in a 9 by 13 pan, layer grated gruyere cheese and finish with the rest of the potatoes. Carefully pour the remaining cream over the potato slices. Bake 350 for 1 1/2 hours to 1 3/4 hours until bubbly and browned on top. Let sit before serving a few minutes to allow the potato slices to absorb the extra liquid.

Variations- Cut some of the fat grams and replace some of the whipping cream with chicken broth. Use a different cheese like jack and add chipotle sauce to the cream mixture. Try gorgonzola or blue cheese (but don't use a whole pound) instead of the gruyere. Add a tsp of thyme to the cream mixture or another spice you like.
