Simple blanched green beans
Buttermilk white sauce
1 c. french fried onions
1/2 c. panko breadcrumbs

Buttermilk White Sauce

2 Tbs. butter
1 1/2 c. milk
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 Tbs. ranch dressing
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Simple Blanched Green Beans

1 1/2 lbs. fresh green beans
salt

Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350º.

2. Combine buttermilk white sauce and blanched green beans
in large bowl. Stir to combine and place in a lightly greased
13 x 9 or 3 qt. baking dish.

3. Combine french fried onions and panko. Sprinkle over beans.

4. Bake 25-30 minutes. Serve immediately.

Buttermilk White Sauce

1. Melt butter in medium-sized, heavy saucepan.

2. Whisk in flour until smooth. Cook 1 minute.

3. Gradually whisk in 1 1/2 c. milk. Cook over medium heat,
whisking constantly, 3-4 minutes or until mixture is thickened
and bubbly.

4. Remove from heat and whisk in buttermilk and remaining
ingredients.

Simple Blanched Green Beans

1. Cook green beans in boiling, salted water 4-6 minutes or to desired degree of doneness.
2. Use immediately or plunge into ice water. Drain and pat dry.

Cheddar Pecan Variation

Combine buttermilk white sauce, 1 c. jarred, finely chopped roasted red peppers and 1/2 c. freshly grated sharp cheddar cheese with green beans. Combine french fried onions, panko, 1/12 c. chopped pecans and additional 1/2 c. cheddar cheese. Sprinkle over bean mixture and bake as previously directed.
