Bread dough
¾ cup warm milk
1 yeast
3. T. sugar
½ tsp. salt
1 egg, beaten
3 cups flour (extra flour is used while kneading)
¾ cup butter or margarine

Filling
Scant ½ cup sugar
1 8 oz. cream cheese
¾ cup milk
4 T. flour
Grated lemon peel

Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm milk. Cut in shortening in flour. Add sugar, salt, egg and milk with dissolved yeast. Mix thoroughly. Knead on floured board until smooth and satiny. Cover and let rise in warm spot about 1 hour. Divide dough in half. Roll in sausage shaped strip 24 inches long. Flatten to a 5-inch width. Spread filling on top of strip, fold with both sides to center and seal with fingers. Shape into a coil or pretzel shape on greased baking sheet. Cover and let stand at room temperature for 20 to 30 minutes. Bake in 375º oven 25 to 30 minutes. Frost while warm, if desired.

Note: This dough will not rise much so follow instructions and the results will be delightful. Use any filling desired Nut filling is extra delicious.

Filling directions
Beat eggs, sugar, and cream cheese. Gradually add milk, then flour. Blend in lemon peel.
