Ingredients: Cake: Make Dream Cake using devil's food cake mix.
Filling: 4 Tablespoons flour 1 cup milk 1 cup sugar 1/2 cup crisco 1 stick butter 3 teaspoons vanilla I usually double this so I have enough for decorating cake.
Chocolate Fudge Icing: 2 cups sugar 1/2 cup milk 1 stick butter 2 1/2 Tablespoons white karo 2 unsweetened chocolate squares

Directions:Cake: Make Dream Cake using devil's food cake mix. Make in 2 layers. Cool completely.
Filling: Mix together and cook until thick the flour and milk. (I do this in the microwave in brief intervals. Cover and cool in refrigerator until ready to use. Cream together the sugar, crisco, butter and vanilla. Add the flour and milk mixture. Beat until fluffy.
Chocolate Fudge Icing: Mix all ingredients together and bring to a boil. Boil for about one minute or until forms a ball in cool water. Beat with hand until cool and creamy.
To Assemble Cake: Split layers to make 4. Place small amount of cream filling on cake plate to help hold cake. Place first layer on cake plate. Cover with generous amount of cream filling. Place 2nd layer. Top with generous amount of fudge icing. Place 3rd layer. Top with generous amount of cream filling. Place top layer. Cover top with fudge icing and let drip down sides of pan. Pipe cream filling around edge of cake to decorate. Pipe small amount on top and add a cherry. Cover and keep in refrigerator. |
