1 cup crisco
2 cups brown sugar
2 eggs
1/2 cup buttermilk
3 1/2 cups plain flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt

For Fruitcake Cookies:
1 1/2 cups broken pecans
2 cups candied cherries
2 cups dates, cut up

Directions:
Directions:
Mix together the crisco, brown sugar and eggs. Stir in buttermilk. Sift together the flour, baking soda and salt and then stir into the rest. Chill at least 1 hour. Drop by rounded teaspoons about 2" apart on lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 400º for about 8 minutes. Makes 2 1/2 dozen cookies.
