1 c. shortening
2 c. oatmeal
1 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, lightly beaten
7 T. milk (add 1 tsp. baking soda)
2 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. raisins
1/2 c. nuts (optional)

Directions:
Directions:
Put shortening and oatmeal into pan and heat slowly, stirring often because it will scorch easily if heat is too high. Cream sugar, eggs and milk together. Sift in dry ingredients to creamed mixture. Next, add raisins and nuts if desired. Finally, stir in oatmeal mixture and mix well. Drop by spoonful onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350º for 12 minutes.
