1 c. (2 sticks) butter, softened
½ c. plus ¼ c. sugar, divided
¾ c. dark corn syrup
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla extract
3½ c. all-purpose flour
½ c. Hershey’s cocoa
½ tsp. baking soda
¼ tsp. ground cinnamon
1-2/3 c. (10 oz. pkg.) Hershey’s Premier White Chips, Skor or Heath toffee bites (optional)
Maraschino cherry halves (optional)

Directions:

Beat butter and ½ c. sugar in large bowl until well blended; add corn syrup, egg and vanilla, blending well. Combine flour, cocoa and baking soda; gradually add to butter mixture, bending well. Cover; refrigerate dough 1 hr. or until firm enough to handle. Heat over to 350◦F. Lightly grease cookie sheet. Combine remaining ¼ c. sugar mixture. Place balls on prepared cookie sheet. Using thumb, making indentation in center of each cookie. Bake 6 to 8 min. or until set. Remove from oven. If necessary, use tip of spoon and press indentation in center. Immediately place 1 tsp. white chips in each indentation. After several min., swirl melted chips. Top with toffee bits and maraschino cherry halves, if desired. Remove from cookie sheet to wire rack. Cool completely.
