3 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup whole almonds
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons anise seeds
zest of 1 lemon
¼ teaspoon salt
3 large eggs
2 large egg yolks
2 teaspoons vin santo
1 large egg white beaten

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350° and line baking sheet with parchment. Combine flour, sugar, almonds, baking powder, anise seeds, lemon zest, and salt. Add the whole eggs and vin santo and mix until a stiff, crumbly, slightly sticky dough forms.

Turn dough onto lightly floured surface and knead until it comes together. Divide dough into three pieces and form logs. Brush top of logs with egg white and sprinkle lightly with sugar. Bake in center of oven for 25 minutes until lightly browned.

Let cool for 30 minutes then cut on the diagonal and place in oven and bake, about 10 minutes, then turn and bake other side for 10 minutes..
