¾ c Water
1 c Sugar
¼ tsp Salt
2 Medium-sized firm, ripe pears
1 tbsp Grated fresh ginger
¼ tsp Ground cinnamon
12 oz Cranberries

Directions:
Directions:
Bring water, sugar, salt, freshly grated ginger, and cinnamon to boil in medium sized non reactive saucepan over high heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve the sugar.

Stir in cranberries and pears; return to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and simmer until saucy, slightly thickened, and about 2/3 cranberries have popped open, about 5 minutes.

Transfer to a nonreactive bowl, cool to room temperature, and serve.

This is a wonderful twist on the traditional sauce that has become a tradition in our house since Angelo and I hosted our first Thanksgiving 20 years ago. I do crush some of the cranberries while they are cooking and before I put in a bowl. I typically make this a head of time and serve chilled.
