Honey Habanero BBQ Sauce Recipe

2 cup ketchup
1 cup water
˝ cup apple cider vinegar
5 tbsp light brown sugar
5 tbsp white sugar
˝ tbsp black pepper
˝ tbsp onion powder
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp yellow mustard
1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 cup honey
2 shallots
5-7 fresh habanero’s
2 tbsp EVO olive oil

Directions:

Remove membrains and seeds from the habanero and Finley chop along with shallots.

Heat stock pot with 2 tbsp EVO Olive Oil and sauté shallots and habanero until translucent and fragrant (3-4 min).

Add in the rest of the wet and dry ingredients stirring together. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat to simmer for 2-3 hours, or until the sauce is at a consistency you prefer.

Using a blend stick, you can power mix the sauce right in the pot, otherwise you will need to transfer the mixture in batches to a blender to do a final blending.

Strain the mixture if you do not want small chunks before placing into mason jars or other storage containers.

You can adjust habaneros to increase the heat or add in 1-2 tbsp crushed red pepper to give another layer of heat and flavor.
