1/2 lb bacon, chopped
2 large onions, chopped
1 lb hamburger
3/4 cup molasses
1 tsp chili powder (feel free to add more)
1 tsp celery salt
1 tsp nutmeg

Use a large roasting pan.
Cook bacon and onions until onions are tender. Add hamburger, brown. Add other ingredients

Bake at 300º for 2 hours, stirring often.

Marie's story: My mother served this the first time my (now) husband came for dinner. He told me later that he though, "what's wrong with these people - they each ate only one serving!" He ate more than one or two....and later learned why we only eat a little of the molasses-laden beans!
