2/3 cup shortening
1 1/4 tsp flavoring (your choice)
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp butter flavoring (if desired)
1/2 to 3/4 cup water
1 tbsp meringue powder
2 pounds powdered sugar (approx 8 cups)
Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening, salt, meringue powder and flavoring. Add in powdered sugar 1/3 cup at a time, adding in a little water after each addition of sugar. After adding the last of the sugar if icing is too stiff add additional water very sparingly until desired consistency is reached.
