1 c. chopped dates
1 c. hot water
1 c. sugar
1 tbsp butter
1 egg
1 c. plus 2 tbsp flour
pinch of salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Combine the dates and water and set aside. Cream the sugar and butter then add the egg and beat again. Mix the dry ingredients and add the the sugar mixture. Last, add the vanilla and nuts. Pour into a greased and floured 9 X 9 square pan. Bake at 350º until done. Serve with whipped cream.
