2½ c flour
¼ tsp baking powder
1½ tsp salt
½ tsp allspice
½ oleo
1½ c unsweetened applesauce
½ c chopped walnuts (optional)
2 c sugar
1½ tsp baking soda
¾ tsp cinnamon
½ tsp ground cloves
½ c water
2 eggs
1 c raisins cut up (optional)

Frosting for Applesauce Cake- Penuche Icing
½ c oleo or butter
¼ c milk
1 c brown sugar (packed)
1¾-2 c powdered sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Heat oven to 350º Grease and flour 9x13 pan Blend dry ingredients in bowl. Add oleo, water and applesauce. Beat 2 min and then add eggs and beat 2 min more Stir in walnut and raisins Pour into pan and bake 35-45 minutes or until done.
Cool before frosting.

Frosting
Melt oleo or butter in saucepan Stir in brown sugar Boil and stir over low heat 2 min Stir in milk Bring to boil stirring constantly Cool to lukewarm and beat in powdered sugar.
