1 10 ounce can dark, red pitted sweet cherries
sugar to taste (if needed)
1 TBS cornstarch
2 TBS water
pinch of salt

Directions:
Directions:
Mix cornstarch with water

Drain cherries reserving juice

Bring juice to a boil on top of the stove

Add salt

Thicken slightly with all or part of the cornstarch mixture, adding slowly while boiling juice

Remove from heat and cool before adding cherries.

Add a little port or brandy if you like to enhance flavor

Serve at room temperature or cool with Ris A La Mande
