GINGERBREAD

6 Tbsps shortening
cup packed brown sugar
⅓ cup molasses
1 egg
1 cups flour
tsp baking soda
tsp cinnamon
tsp ginger
⅛ tsp salt
cup buttermilk

BROWN SUGAR SAUCE

1 cup brown sugar
4 tsp cornstarch
cup cold water
1 tsp vinegar
1 Tbsp butter
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350
Grease a 9" square baking pan

GINGERBREAD

Cream the shortening and brown sugar together.
Add all the rest ingredients and mix well.
Pour into pan and bake for 25 - 30 minutes or until tests done.

BROWN SUGAR SAUCE

Combine the cornstarch and cold water, whisking until smooth.

Heat the brown sugar, vinegar, butter and vanilla in a saucepan.
Gradually add the cornstarch/water, stirring over heat until sauce thickens.

Serve Gringerbread warm with warm sauce drizzled over each serving.
