1/2 c butter
2 T cocoa
1/4 c water
1 1/2 c sugar
2 oz red food coloring
1 c buttermilk
1 t baking soda
2 eggs
pinch of salt
2 1/2 c flour
1 t vanilla
1 t vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º.

Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs, beat well.

In separate bowl make a paste of cocoa, red food coloring. Add to the butter sugar mixture, stir well. Add flour and salt, mix well. Add buttermilk, water, vanilla, mix well. Then add baking soda, mix. Stir in vinegar slowly. Pour batter into pan(s).

Bake at 350º for 30 minutes.

30 min for 2 - 8 in rounds
45-50 min for bundt or sheet cake
