1 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
1 lg. can pumpkin (32 oz.)
5 c. flour
1 teas. salt
3 teas. baking powder
3 teas. soda
3 teas. cinnamon
Nuts and/or raisins optional

Frosting
c. shortening
teas. salt
2 teas. vanilla
3 c. powdered sugar
c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Cookies: Using mixture, cream shortening and sugar until fluffy. Add the pumpkin and beat well. Sift remaining cookie ingredients and add to shortening/sugar mixture. May use mixture until it gets too thick. Stir in nuts or raisins. Bake at 375 8-10 minutes or until firm They will not be brown.

Frosting: Cream shortening, salt and vanilla. Add powdered sugar and milk and beat well. Frost completely cooled cookies.
