4 to 6 Mirlitons
1 lb. shrimp
1 lg. onion, minced
1 lg. bell pepper, minced
1 Tbsp. parsley, chopped
2 Tbsp. oil
1/2 c. Italian bread crumbs
salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Wash and parboil mirlitons, then peel, dice and steam until tender.
Peel and devein shrimp; saute shrimp in oil with onion and bell peppers for 20 minutes. Add to steamed mirlitons; add parsley and seaason to taste.
Place in casserole and sprinkle top with Italian bread crumbs and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.

In Louisiana Creole and Cajun cuisine, the fruit, known as mirliton is a popular seasonal dish for the holidays, especially around Thanksgiving, in a variety of recipes. Maw maw's version is certainly our favorite.
