Cake:
1/2 lb butter
1/2 cup shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons cocoa
1 cup milk
1 Tablespoon vanilla

Icing:
1/4 cup butter
2 squares chocolate
1 lb box confectioner's sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Cake:
Cream together the butter and shortening. Add sugar and eggs. Sift dry ingredients together. Add vanilla.
Add dry ingredients alternately with milk. Bake in tubed pan at 325º for 80 minutes.

Icing:
Melt butter and chocolate together. Add sugar and vanilla. Cream to spread.
