1 cup sugar
2 eggs
2 tbs. melted shortening
4 cups sifted flour
4 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 cup milk

Directions:

Beat eggs until light, add sugar,blend in shortening, then add dry ingredients.
Roll 1/4" thick on a floured board and cut with a doughnut cutter. Fry a few at a time in hot deep fat. Turning once. Drain on paper towel and spread with icing.
