Cake Ingredients

2 c sifted self-rising flour
1-1/4 c sugar
1/2 c shortening or 1 stick of butter (room temperature)
1 c milk, divided.
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs.

Chocolate Sauce Ingredients

1 c sugar
1/8 c baking cocoa
1/2 stick butter
1/4 c milk
1/4 tsp vanilla

Cake Instructions.

Preheat oven to 350º. Grease 9 x 13 pan and flour the pan. In a large mixing bowl sift together the flour & sugar. Blend in shortening or butter & 2/3 c of the milk. Beat 2 minutes on medium speed. Blend in remaining milk, vanilla & eggs. Beat for an additional 2 minutes. Fold into prepared pan. Bake for 25 to 35 minutes or until toothpick comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes. Poke holes throughout the cake with a fork while warm.

1 Minute Chocolate Sauce

Combine sugar, cocoa, butter & milk into sauce pan. Over medium heat slowly bring to a boil whisking constantly. Once boiling begins, boil for 1 minute only while still stirring. Remove from heat & add vanilla. Cool for 10 minutes to allow for thickening. Pour over warm cake. Enjoy!
