3/4 c. butter, room temperature
1 c. sugar - I used only 3/4+ c.
1 egg
1/4 c. molasses

2-1/4 c. all purpose flour
2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. ginger
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. salt

Directions:
Using an electric mixer, cream the butter & sugar until well blended & light. Add egg & molasses. In a separate bowl, combine all the dry ingredients. Sift on to flexible cutting board. Add to creamed mixture in batches on low speed of electric mixer. Chill for 1/2 - 1 hour. Roll into approximately 1" balls & dip in sugar. Place 1/2" apart on greased or parchment lined cookie sheets. Flatten the balls slightly with your fingertips or a fork. Bake in a 350º oven for 12-15 minutes. Cool on wire racks
