1 (16 oz.) large loaf of french bread
8 eggs, lightly beaten
3 c. milk
3/4 c. sugar, divided
1 Tbsp. vanilla extract
2 granny smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
2 tsp. cinnamon
2 Tbsp. butter

Buttermilk Syrup
1 c. butter
1 c. sugar
Stir until boils. Remove from heat.
Add:
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 t. baking soda

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400º. Spray 9x13" glass dish with vegetable spray. Slice bread into 1 1/2 inch slices. Place bread tightly together in one layer in dish (use the ends too). Mix eggs, milk, 1/4 c. sugar, and vanilla. Pour the liquid over the bread. Mix remaining 1/2 c. sugar with cinnamon and coat apples. Place coated apples on soaked bread. Dot with butter. Bake for 35 minutes or cover and refrigerate overnight. Bake the next morning for 50 minutes. Once dish is baked, cool for 5-10 minutes before serving. Serve with favorite syrup.
