cup shortening
1 cups sugar
2 eggs
2 Tsp. cocoa
2 oz red food coloring (mix with cocoa)
1 cup buttermilk, mixed with 1 tsp. vanilla.
2 cups flour (sifted with 1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. (white vinegar)

5 Tbsp. flour
1 cup milk
1 cups sugar
1 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla

Pre-heat oven 350
Cream shortening and sugar, Add eggs. And beat well the cocoa, food coloring mixture, Beat in sifted flour w/salt
ADD Alternately the buttermilk mixed with vanilla.
Beat well 4 to 5 minutes.
Mix together soda and vinegar. Add to the cake mixture and beat well.
Bake in two 9-inch. pans for 35 minutes.

Cook flour and milk on the stove in a saucepan, set aside and let cool.
Cream sugar, butter, and vanilla. And,
Add to cooled milk-flour mixture and beat well,
icing cooled cake and store in the refrigerator.
