Meat Sauce:
1 lb. Italian Sausage (can use ground beef if preferred)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. basil
1 lb. can (2 c.) tomato sauce
1- 6 oz. can(1 1/3 c.) tomato paste
½ tsp. salt
10 oz. package wide lasagna noodles

Cheese filling:
3 c. fresh ricotta or creamy cottage cheese
½ c. Grated Parmesan or Romanp cheese
2 tbsp. parsley flakes
2 eggs, beaten
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. pepper
1 lb. mozzarella cheese, shredded

Brown meat slowly; spoon off fat. Add remaining meat sauce ingredients. Simmer uncovered ½ hour- stirring occasionally. Cook lasagna noodles until tender in large amount of salted water-this may take 15-20 minutes. Drain and rinse in cold water- set aside. Mix all cheese filling ingredients but the Mozzarella. Begin layering in 9 x 13 inch pan. Place ½ the cooked noodles at the bottom; spread with ½ the cheese filling; cover with ½ the Mozzarella cheese and ½ the meat sauce. Repeat layers. Bake in 375º oven for 80 minutes. Before cutting in squares, let stand 10 minutes.
