¾ c. brown sugar
½ c. butter
2 tbsp. corn syrup (I use maple syrup instead)
2 tart apples, peeled & sliced (Granny Smith best)
6 eggs
1½ c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 loaf french bread cut into ¾" slices
½ tsp. cinnamon
½ tsp. nutmeg

Directions:

Pre-cook apples a bit in microwave
Cook sugar butter and syrup until syrupy smooth.
Pour into a 9X13 baking dish. Spread apple slices over. (I lay them out in rows).
Place the bread on top of the apple slices.
Whisk together eggs, milk, spices and vanilla and pour over bread.
Cover and refrigerate overnight.

Bake covered 350º about 40 minutes, then uncover last 3 to 10 minutes.

Note**** For your family, you might want to make a bigger batch, depending on whether you're having something else.
