Cake:

1 cup butter
½ cup Crisco
2 cups brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup milk
6 eggs
3 cups flour
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla or ½ tsp. vanilla and ½ tsp. almond
Nuts - optional

Glaze:
1 stick butter
1 cup brown sugar
½ cup milk
2 cups powdered sugar

Directions:

Cake:

Cream butter and crisco. Add sugar and eggs. Sift and measure flour and baking powder. Add these with milk. Beat well. Bake 1½ hours at 325º. Be sure to grease and flour pan.

Glaze:

Boil butter and brown sugar for 1 minute. Add ½ cup milk. Cook 2 minutes. Cool. Add 2 cups powdered sugar; creaming well until smooth. Spread on cake.
