"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Combine sugar, cornstarch and salt in a saucepan. Stir in 1 beaten egg yolk and pineapple chunks. Heat on medium and cook while stirring until mixture is thick. Let cool.

In another saucepan, heat milk and 1 tsp sugar until scalding and then cool to lukewarm.
Dissolve yeast in cup warm water. Add milk mixture and beat in 4 egg yolks.

Cut 1 cup of butter into flour to make a crumble. Add liquid mixture and beat until smooth.
