1 ½ cup sugar
2 cups flour
4 Tablespoons shortening
Pinch salt
1 cup cold water

2 cups fruit
2 cups fruit juice
1 cup sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix first 5 ingredients and pat in bottom of 9 x 13 in. baking pan.
Mix last 3 ingredients and pour over top of the batter in the pan.
Bake at 400º for 1 hour.

If there is not enough juice or syrup to make 2 cups you may add water.
You may use fresh, frozen or canned fruit.

During baking the batter mixture will come to the top and make a crust and the fruit will sink to the bottom of the pan.
