3/4 c. Crisco butter shortening
1 1/4 c. firmly packed brown sugar
2 T. milk
1 T. vanilla
1 egg
1 3/4 c. flour
1 t. salt
3/4 t. baking soda
1 regular sized package MILK chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Combine shortening, brown sugar, milk, and vanilla in large bowl. Beat at medium speed with electric mixer until well blended. Beat egg into creamed mixture.

Combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Mix into creamed mixture just until blended. Stir in chocolate chips by hand.

Drop tablespoonfuls of dough on to ungreased baking sheet. Bake one baking sheet at a time at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes for chewy cookies. Do not overbake. Cookies will not look done when you remove them from oven. Let sit about 5-10 minutes then transfer to wire baking rack to cool.
