1 cup butter, room temperature
2 Tbsp. sage
salt and pepper
1 cup pure maple syrup
1/4 cup hot water
8 strips smoked bacon
1 - 16 lb. Turkey

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º and remove top rack.
Mix softened butter with sage in a mixing bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
Wash turkey inside and out. Pat dry.
Rub butter mixture under skin of turkey.
Optional:
Stuff with your favorite dressing if desired.
Place turkey on a rack in a large roasting pan.
Put in oven.
Mix maple syrup with water. Baste turkey with maple syrup mixture every 30 minutes for about 2 hours.
After 2 hours of cooking, lay bacon strips over turkey breast.
Bake an additional hour or until thermometer inserted into breast registers 170º.
Rest 20 minutes before cutting.
If legs get too brown cover with foil.
