Ingredients:
Ingredients:
12 chicken wings, tips removed (I usually use chicken legs)
2/3 cup cornstarch
1 teaspoon garlic salt
1 egg, well beaten
1/4 cup oil
3/4 cup sugar
1/4 cup ketchup
1/4 cup vinegar

Directions:
Directions:
Cut each chicken wing in half. Place chicken wings in large saucepan; add water to cover. Bring to boil, reduce heat. Cover, simmer 15 minutes. Drain, reserving 1/2 cup chicken broth. Set aside. Cool chicken wings slightly.

Heat oven to 375º degrees. In plastic bag, combine cornstarch and garlic salt. Dip chicken wings in egg, shake in bag to coat. Heat oil in large skillet; brown coated chicken wings. In small bowl, combine reserved 1/2 cup chicken broth, sugar, ketchup and vinegar. Place chicken wings in ungreased 13 x 9 pan; pour ketchup mixture over chicken. Bake at 375 degrees for 15 minutes or until thoroughly heated, stirring once halfway through baking. 24 appetizers.

Tip: to freeze, prepare chicken wings as directed above. Cool. Package in freezer bags, removing all air and securing tightly. Freeze up to 3 months. To reheat, place frozen wings in 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until thoroughly heated, stirring occasionally.

Personal Notes:
This is Uncle Don's favorite recipe. He requests this every year on his birthday. I exchange chicken legs in place of the wings and turn it into a dish to be served as a meal. It is a bit of a mess to make but if you like sweet and sour, this is definitely worth the extra effort.
