1 cake yeast
1 cup Crisco
4 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
4 tbsp. sugar
2 tbsp. lukewarm water
5 cups flour
1 tsp. salt
2 cups buttermilk

Directions:
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in the warm water. Sift together dry ingredients. Cut in shortening. Add yeast mixture and buttermilk to dry ingredients and knead enough to hold together. Roll out 1/4" to 1/2" thick. Cut with biscuit cutter. Fold over in half after melted butter has been brushed on top. Bake at 400 for 20 minutes. Recipe can be halved.
