4 lb. soup bone w/ meat
1 lg. onion, sliced
1 T. salt
1 lb. carrots, sliced
1 c. onions, chopped
4 med. potatoes, diced
1/4 turnip, cubed
1/4 lb. thin spaghetti, broken
salt and pepper

Dumplings:
1 1/2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3 T. shortening
3/4 c. milk

Directions:
Directions:
Place soup bone into a large pot and add enough water to cover bone. Add onion and salt; simmer for 2 to 3 hours until tender. Take meat from pot, set aside. In the pot, add carrots, onions, potatoes, turnip and spaghetti. Cook for 30 minutes until vegetables are tender.

Next, mix together dumpling ingredients and drop dough by spoonfuls onto boiling soup (approximately 8 dumplings). Cook covered for 10 minutes. Uncover and cook for an additional 10 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste; thicken with flour mixed with a little water if soup is too thin. Serves 6 to 8 people.
