2 lbs small navy beans
1 ½ lb smoked ham hock
butter
4 qts hot water
1 lg onion chopped
salt and pepper

Directions:
Directions:
Wash beans with hot water until beans are white again.
Add to the 4 qts of hot water with ham hocks and boil slowly in covered pot about 3 hours.
Sautee onions in butter. When light brown, remove and add to pot of beans and ham hocks.
Season with salt and pepper.

Serve.
