1 1/2 pounds ground beef (lean)
1 large onion (chopped)
2 cloves garlic (minced)
2 cans Campbell's tomato soup
1 (4 oz.) can of tomato paste
1/4 cup red wine
1 Tbl. sugar
1 tsp. celery seed
2 tsp. ground black pepper
2 cans water (use the tomato soup cans)
2 tsp. oregano
2 tsp. basil
1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese

In a large, heat sauce pan, sauté the onions and garlic with the ground beef. When the meat is browned, add the tomato soup, paste, water, red wine, sugar and spices.
On medium heat, cook the sauce for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Layer the parmesan cheese on top and let cook without mixing for 5 minutes. Incorporate the cheese and cook for another 30 minutes on medium-low heat, stirring occasionally.
Cook your pasta of choice al dente. Spoon sauce over pasta and put shredded cheese on top.

This sauce was from dad's side of the family. It is just good, old fashioned comfort food. Sarah and Alex used to want it when they came home from college for a visit. It is really good.
