1/2 c butter or marjarine
1 c sugar
1 egg
3 Tbsp orange juice
2 Tbsp orange rind grated
2 c flour
2 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

Decorator icing:
To 1 lightly beaten egg white add few drops vanilla. Stir in enough icing sugar (1 1/2 - 2 c) to make icing firm to pipe on. Thin with H2O to brush on cookies. Add food colouring as needed. Cover icing with damp cloth to prevent from hardening.

Cream butter and sugar till fluffy. Beat in egg, oj and rind. Mix dry and gradually add. Cover and refrigerate 5 hours at least till chilled in fridge, can be chilled for days also.
In lightly floured surface roll out. (not paper thin but thin). Ungreased baking sheet till lightly browned.
375º F for 8 minutes. CO 325º F about 5 minutes.
Once cooled can decorate with icing and sprinkles.
Makes 6-8 dozen

This is a Canadian Living recipe. Jacki, Kirk and Leanne first made in 1986 while living at "Glamorgan Estates" in Edmonton. Leanne ate so much of the icing and sprinkles we had to put her to bed so we could finish decorating! The included picture is from that Christmas!
