1 dozen eggs
2 lbs. sugar (around 2 cups=1lb.)
1 lb. butter or oleo
8 tsp. Hartshorn (can be found at Pikes Place Market)
1 tsp. anise oil
5 lbs. flour or more
salt

frosting:
1 can evaporated milk
confection sugar
butter

Directions:
Directions:
Put sugar and butter in a large kettle- cover and let sit til butter softens. Add eggs and mix well after each one, add hartshorn, anise oil and salt. Add flour gradually until dough is a rolling consistency. Lightly flour counter/table and roll out dough (a little at a time) to favorable thickness for cookie cutting. Bake at 350 until golden brown.

Mix frosting ingredients together until desired consistency so frosting is not too thin but light enough to spread easily on cookie and sprinkle when wet.
