1/2 cup onion, chopped
1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
3/4 lb. ground beef
2 - 8 oz. cans seasoned tomato sauce
1 - 12 oz can whole kernel corn, drained
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. salt
2 to 3 tsp. chili powder
1 1/2 cup shredded cheese
Corn Meal Topping
3/4 cup yellow corn meal
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups. water
1 Tbsp. butter
Cook onions and bell pepper in small amount of butter.
Add meat, brown lightly, spoon off excess fat.
Add tomato sauce, corn, garlic, sugar, salt, chili powder and pepper.
Simmer 20 minutes or until thick. Add cheese, stir until melted.
Pour into baking dish.
Mix corn meal topper and spread over top of meat mixture.
Bake covered at 375 degrees, 35 to 40 minutes until corn meal topper is done and top is brown.
