"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
Cream butter and sugar then beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the dry ingredients and add to butter mixture until dough is well mixed. Chill dough 2-3 hours before rolling. Preheat oven 350 F.
Roll dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut with cookie cutters trying to get as many cookies out of dough as possible so as to not have to re roll more than once. Use as little flour as possible to roll the cookies. Bake on cookie sheet until lightly colored 8-10 minutes. You can ice them when they are completely cooled.
